Im new to amarok, and linux in general. I like what ive seen so far, and amarok is cool, but after installing the latest release RPM for Mandrake 10.1, the configure window keeps opening up and snapping to the audioscrobbler registration window. I registered and entered the info, hit apply, and closed the window, but it keeps opening up like every 20 seconds or so. Any ideas? Is this an audioscrobbler problem? Also, I cant seem to build a collection base. The progress bar looks like it finishes, but doesnt add anything, and no info is displayed.

I had this problem with beta1 when I compiled amarok with mysql support and had not setup amarok to actually use mysql. It seems that you cannot opt to not use mysql when support for it is compiled in. Try to compile amarok yourself without mysql support if you do not plan to use it.

do you run amarok with mysql? if so, you might have to re-enter your mysql password since we store it encrypted, now.

Pardon me for saying so, but forcing the user to use a feature just because it\'s compiled in is not desirable behaviour IMO especially when there was no indication that mysql was causing the problem (yes, I too registered with AudioScrobbler because I thought that was the problem).
Could this perhaps be considered something that needs fixing prior to the 1.2 final? |

Yes that was apperently the problem. I installed an RPM with mysql compiled. I found one without and it works ok now. Only problem im getting now is that i seem to llose my collecton info a lot, have to re-scan, and then i get like 3 copies of every song. \"remove duplacates\" doesnt seem to help. And when amarok finishes its scan, it crashes a lot. But to be honest this may be my newb-ness as much as anything. Thanks for the replies and help. I appreciate it.
