try to play a file from the shell with \"artsplay foobar.mp3\".
do you hear something?

nope..
it says: Can\'t connect to sound server

the reason i use aRts is that the options i have are:
gstreamer engine:
when i choose that, it says:
gstreamer is missing a registry. make sure u got all the plugins installed (like ogg and mp3) and run \"gst-register\" afterwards.
i checked and did what they said, doesn\'t work.

aRts engine
looks alright, amarok can play, just can\'t make me hear the music..

xine engine
when i choose this one amarok exits without saying a word..

hi all,

i\'m using amarok 1.1.1 with kde 3.3.1. engline is aRts. (mepis linux)
everything seems ok, i try to play a song, it LOOKS like it\'s playing.. the visualation works, but no sound comes out, as if the volume is zero or something,,

will appriciate your help because this is the best linux player i\'ve seen so far.

I had this problem with amaroK 1.0.2. Upgrading to 1.1.1 fixed it. :)
