Using amaroK 1.2-beta2 on KDE 3.3.2 level \"a\" on SUSE 9.2,
I find that adding too many directories and files at once (Add Media) causes crashes.

Too much means, specifically, that I attempted to add 3.9GB, or 767 files in 72 folders from a local directory /media/Music/...

Adding the music with a few directories at a time works well.

Oh, and Im using the arts engine.

well, be more specific. offer the latest console output. look at the collection_scan.log and report the last stuff it added before crashing.

finally: get a valid backtrace (see faq) and report all your component versions.

i hardly believe it has anything to do with the amount of dirs. (220gb here)

Hi!

I had the same problem too. From a particular foldersize on, amarok crashed building a collection.
So I removed my separately builded playlists from every folder and amarok was able to finish.
My System is Debian Unstable - Amarok 1-2beta3 (compiled with enabled mysql)- KDE 3.3.2.

ah, i think i know where this comes from. you might simply wanna try to disable \"import playlists\" in your collection setup.

so resume: it\'s not the amount of songs, but the amount of playlists we scan.

Does this still happen with CVS? There\'s been lots of fixes there lately.
