I currently have amaroK set to use arts, and I want to switch it to the xine sound engine. However, when I select xine from the dropdown, and click on either \"ok\" or \"apply\", the program stalls. The same problem occurs if I choose GStreamer. Is there a way to change the sound engine from a configuration file? Arts isn\'t working, and I\'d really like to be able to use one of the other sound engines.

I have this problem also. Try switching to \"none\" as an engine first and then back to xine.

Have you tried starting amarok with a specified engine?

[code:1]amarok --engine xine[/code:1]

what is the exact command i would use to start amarok with the xine engine?

i tried:

amarok --engine xine-engine
amarok --xine-engine

and it complained about --engine and --xine-engine being unknown options.

OS
[code:1]amarok --help[/code:1]
gives you the available parameters.

And there\'s a nice handbook BTW.
