I currently have amaroK set to use arts, and I want to switch it to the xine sound engine. However, when I select xine from the dropdown, and click on either \"ok\" or \"apply\", the program stalls. The same problem occurs if I choose GStreamer. Is there a way to change the sound engine from a configuration file? Arts isn\'t working, and I\'d really like to be able to use one of the other sound engines.

I have this problem also. Try switching to \"none\" as an engine first and then back to xine.

switching to no sound engine and then to xine crashed amarok

Have you tried starting amarok with a specified engine?
[code:1]amarok --engine xine[/code:1] |

what is the exact command i would use to start amarok with the xine engine?
i tried: amarok --engine xine-engine amarok --xine-engine and it complained about --engine and --xine-engine being unknown options. |

[code:1]amarok --help[/code:1]
gives you the available parameters. And there\'s a nice handbook BTW. Post edited by: marcel, at: 2005/01/21 19:40 |
