amaroK and Musepack: SOLVED

Wed Jan 19, 2005 5:06 am
Hello,

On this forum it has been discussed from time to time that having Musepack support would be nice. Well, amaroK can now reproduce Musepack-encoded files with all three GStreamer, xine and arts engine backends.

GStreamer: You will need the libmusepack (C++ version), available at http://files.musepack.net/source/libmus ... .3.tar.bz2. Once you have the library compiled and installed, download, compile and install the latest GStreamer Plugins (version 0.8.7, http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/src/gst-plugins). They include support for Musepack.

xine: Over the last couple of days, a developer of the xine team implemented support for Musepack. This was possible because a plain C version of libmusepack was made available. You will have to check out and compile the latest cvs version of xine-lib. I have it running by now, but further testing and feedback to the xine list is appreciated.

Thank you.
