I know this might sound like a stupid question, but I really don\'t know how to add to existing list of streams. On my laptop I am given a list of streaming stations, but on my desktop I have no such list of stations. Is it possible to create a list of stations? Also hoow do you change and add to the default list of streaming radio stations?
Thanks so much for your help! Joe |

I dont know if there is any easier way, but this is how I did it:
First I take a look at the file where the Cool-streams are located:
There I get this: [code:1] #EXTM3U #EXTINF:-1,Bassdrive [Drum \'n Bass] http://www.bassdrive.com/BassDrive.m3u #EXTINF:-1,Digitally Imported - Classic Techno [Techno] http://www.digitallyimported.com/mp3/cl ... hno96k.pls [/code:1] (I show only 2 of the stations to save space here, the rest of the stations looked similar). It is easy to se the sceme here. I then copyed that file to my home directory, and started editing it. I just left #EXTM3U like it was. Then I changed [code:1] #EXTINF:-1,Bassdrive [Drum \'n Bass] http://www.bassdrive.com/BassDrive.m3u [/code:1] to [code:1] #EXTINF:-1,P1 High bitrate. http://media.hiof.no/streams/m3u/nrk-p1-172.ogg.m3u [/code:1] I hope it is enough for you to understand the scheme. [code:1] #EXTINF:-1,{NAME} {ADRESS} [/code:1] I then continued to do that until I had all my favorite stations. I then saved that file in my home directory, and from the amaroK playlist tab used the "Add playlist" button to add it. Warning; If you delete the file it gets deleted from amarok to. Hope it helps. |

Well! Thanks for that great tip on how to add a stream to the Cool Streams list!
I see a great reluctance on the part of the AmaroK staff to add a plugin for shoutcast, or whatever it is they\'re worrying over.... But in the meantime, until they get over their cunundrums over this issue, do you suppose they could add some kind of feature under Play List or Tools that would enabe a user to easily - manually - add a Stream to the Cool Streams List? |

Ugh, no need to edit Cool-Streams. It\'s much simpler Look at this FAQ entry that I\'ve just written for your pleasure:
Adding Radio Streams Once you know it it\'s really simple and quick. Perhaps the \"Current Playlist\" thing is not very intuitive to newbies. Ideas on making it more accessible are welcome. Post edited by: markey, at: 2005/03/02 09:32

Hmm, I think I got an idea: The \"Add Playlist\" button should open a URL/Filerequestor dialog, just like in Konqueror when you click \"Open Location\". This way it will be possible to paste remote playlist URLs as well.
Alright, on TODO.

Markey--You are correct that playlist allows you to type and URL then the stream does post to the playlist. You also can save that playlist with that stream or any number of other streams as well. Only problem with this already built solution:
The default of the Playlists is track tille, which the stream is always playing a track, bad news is it saves as whatever track title is playing when you save vs. saving the metadata of the stream. I also switched the headers to Genre, directory, and bitrate to see if it would save more usable info, no go. It saved the current track. For now no big deal -- better than messing with amarok files for me. I wanted to pass info on to you and if you already knew this, I apologize. I\'m passionate about amaroK--it\'s awesome and I\'m just a regular guy learning Linux. Wow.
