My present system: FreeBSD 5.3, running fairly stable for a few weeks, CVsuped weekly, extremely stable IBM system, Pentium II 333, can use kscd well, Xine runs slow. Problem: trying to build collection fails, I go through the proper steps but at the \"Configure Folders\" GUI my unmounted cdrom at /dev/cd0 doesn\'t show up. Any more information needed to solve this problem? Thanks.

Do you want that to show up? |

I don\'t understand the response to my original question, so let me try to provide more info. The setup process involves \"telling\" amarok from which device, ie, cdrom, to read the music that will go into the database. My gui setup does not show any of my devices, even though I can mount them as root without any problems. Kscd will use /dev/acd0 without a problem. So, kscd will see the cdrom, as well as xcdroast, but not amarok. Thanks.

you should select _permanent_ storage locations. you cant have all your mp3 cd\'s mounted at the same time ;-)
if you got only one: mount your cdrom and select that path. -> done. regards, muesli |

Thanks for the quick response. I can\'t mount the cdrom because it does not have a cd9660 file system on it. Also, where is this select_permanent_storage that you mention ? Thanks again. Luis

i think muesli just wanted to bring out that a permanent device for the music would do better

After all these months my amarok app is still not working. Lately, hitting the build collection bar fails to show any changes in the gui itself, that is, I don\'t see any evidence that the cdrom was read and the info brought in to the application when hitting the Build Collection button. I am able to read the cdrom via Play AudioCd button found under the File menu. I can do this as root, not regular user. Thanks. Luis
