amarok streaming problems

Tue Feb 15, 2005 11:15 pm
Hi

Yesterday I was using amarok 0.9 on suse 9.1 with kde 3.2 perfectly well, I could listen to all of my internet streams perfectly. I later upgraded to kde3.3 which meant amarok was updated to 1.2beta 4. Mp3s worked fine and one of 22 streams worked. Toaday I uninstalled this version and installed 1.2 final suse 9.1 rpm built for kde3.3. Now I cannot listen to any streams, amarok locks up the computer, loads of HD activity then closes itself. Mp3s still work fine however.

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions. It would be great for help as I cannot function at work without amarok.

Thanks

Heres a little extra info

I have used both artsd and gstreamer.

with 1.2beta4 i can play only one stream and all the metadata turns into japanese or something, nothing happens with any other stream. Switching to gstreamer from artsd cause a complete crash.

with 1.2 final No streams play.

I\'m having the same problem with 1.2 and with a CVS snapshot from Sunday. No streams play, including the ones provided by amaroK.

We can\'t analyze your problem without detailed information. Necessary information includes a full debug message log from console, and a backtrace.

Sorry, I should\'ve been a bit more attentive to requirements :)

Oddly enough I\'ve managed to get streams working in the CVS snapshot now, but only if the stream is the first thing played. If I play an mp3 then try a stream it doesn\'t work. If I play a stream, then an mp3, then a stream again, then the second stream doesn\'t play. This all happens with the gst backend at the oss output sink.

Anyway, here\'s the output. There\'s no backtrace as it doesn\'t crash. I compiled the source with the full debug flag, but there doesn\'t appear to be much information to go on.

Ok, heres what the command line spues out when I try to play digitally imported progressive stream (which is part of the \'cool streams\' in media library)......only proton radio stream will work.

ok, Ive maneged to get amarok 1.2 working and playing every stream!!!!

First of all goto yast add/remove programs......search for amarok.....and uninstall everything to do with amarok. Uninstall any version of libstreamer and gstreamer you have aswell.

Second goto gurus rpm site (http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/index.php) and download amarok 1.2-2 for your particular distribution, libvisual, gstreamer, libtunepimp and libmusizbrainz for you distro version. Install amarok last and install libmusicbrainz before libtunepimp.

When I tried to install libtunepimp or libmusikbrainz a conflict came up with a program called \'zinf\', i deleted this. Then I installed amarok.

Amarok should hopefully now work with streams, although one ennoying thing is that amarok no longer has a menu entry but it is easily invoked from the command line and its worth it for my streams!!!

Good luck!!
