Hi folks, I\'ve just started using amaroK, and I\'m really enjoying the experience so far. The only problem I have is that I cannot write files to my iPod using the Media Device panel. It doesn\'t appear to be a permissions issue as I have been able to delete files from the iPod successfully. When I hit \"Transfer\" I get an error like \"Could not write to file\" then a legitimate filename on the device. Has anyone else experienced this, or been able to make writing to an ipod work?

mount your ipod to /mnt/ipod and make sure, the user is able to write data!
something like that in your /etc/fstab usually helps: /dev/sdc2 /mnt/ipod vfat user,exec,rw 0 0 regards, muesli |

As I said in my post, I can delete files from the iPod successfully. I can do this through amaroK as well. Are there any dependencies of the Media Device part of amaroK that I could be missing? I guess I should add that I\'ve had this error with both 1.2 and the latest CVS. cheers, -- Nick |

I also have the same problem. I know I can write to the mounted drive because touch /mnt/ipod/foo works with no problems. I\'m wondering if it is because it is an iPod shuffle. I\'ve read that its database is slightly different than the traditional iPod.
What happens if you try and transfer files using Konqueror? |
|
Well, I am now able to copy files to the shuffle without any problems. I had to run gtkpod and it created all the necessary directories f0-f15 which were missing previously.
However, it appears the iPod shuffle\'s database is a bit different because while amarok can read it fine when I try to play something on the shuffle after transferring files I get the blinking orange and green lights which means it detected an error. |

Every time that I try to read, or write to my IPod Photo, I get an Input/Output error/ I can \'touch foo\' and \'rm foo\' in any and every directory, but the minute I try to transfer music either way, I hit an IO error.
heres the line from my fstab: /dev/sdb2 /mnt/ipod vfat exec, defaults, user, noauto, sync 0 0 and \'ls -la /mnt\' gives me: drwxr-xr-x 7 alex alex 4096 1969-12-31 19:00 ipod So I definatly have the right permissions. Does ANYONE (Ill open this to Dev\'s as well) know why I keep hitting IO errors or how to get around them? btw, Im running an IPod Photo, Kernel 2.6.10-5, Amarok 2.1.2.3, and have hotplug and udev. I am MORE than happy to answer any other questions about my configuration. |
