hi dudes..

i\'m using 1.2.1. on gentoo and local mysql and it worked fine.. \'til today..

the thing is, i have a huge partition (about 50gb) with all my sound and also a data subdirectory with no mp3s...

today i tried to update my collection, but amarok finished it without adding the new files.. so i just dumped the mysql-db contents and tried to rescan the entire collection..

now amarok produces a REAL SICK ram load occupping my entire ram (about 600mb free [1gb in total) PLUS the entire 600mb swap partition - my entire gui system was unusuable and frozen - i had to switch the tty and kill amarok outside of the gui to recover my desktop.. ;-)

so 2 questions
- WHY WHY does amarok seem to load all scanning results in memory first prior to saving it to mysql? i guess that\'s the reason for the huge ram load isn\'t it?! the scan seems to be made but eating up much memory..
- is there a way to exclude some subdirectories under collection directories to shorten the scanning process?!

i\'m really messed up now as my collection is gone and not recoverable.. it seems i need 2gb of ram to scan the whole collection to load it into ram ;-))

any ideas how i can rescan my stuff?!
thanks dudes!

ah yes, a sidenote.. i tried to run the first-time-run-wizard to rescan the collection, this doesn\'t change anything..
