I\'m under gentoo, after compiling and recompiling amarok-1.2.2 and reading FAQ, I always have the same problem.
When I launch amarok, I have a box which said \"any sound-engine plugin found\".
I have installed gstreamer, and I use alsa, I see gstreamer is ok during ./configure and I have :

I tried --engine GStreamer-engine and always the same box..

problem resolved..
if you see a kde-config:command not found at the ./configure beginning, do a symb link in /usr/bin for example

I understand that running configure as a normal user (like you\'re supposed to ) can help resolve this as well.
