compile error CVS version

Mon Apr 18, 2005 5:12 pm
Hi,

I tried to get the CVS version to compile, since the faulty behaviour of gstreamer (time display not working etc.) has been reported to be fixed in this.

Although I could compile all versions 1.2.x without problems, I get an error in the CVS version that \"kactionselector.h\" could not be found.
Although I have a complete installation of KDE 3.2.1 with all development packages, this file does not exist.

Does this mean that the CVS version cannot be compiled under KDE 3.2.1 (from SuSE 9.1)? Furthermore, does it mean that it might no longer be possible a t all to compile amarok under KDE 3.2 ?

amaroK 1.3 (which is CVS HEAD) requires KDE 3.3, as stated in the README. Time to upgrade :)

either that or grab the 1.2.4 branch, which keeps a kde 3.2 dependancy

Sorry, I have overlooked this. However, can you tell me how I can access the 1.2.4 branch? I followed the instructions from the Wiki for CVS, and obviously this grabs CVS HEAD. I didn\'t find a hint how to grab a different branch. I cannot easily upgrade to KDE 3.3 without installing that also locally (I install amarok locally in my home directory).

The problem with 1.2.3 and 1.2.2 is twofold when using the gstreamer engine (which I otherwise prefer):

1) Time display does not work, one cannot navigate within a file with the slider. Gstremaer cannot read time nor skip to a desired time for any song.

2) error output gets flooded with warnings
\"GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid cast from `GstDecodeBin\' to `GstMad\'\"

There is a thread about this. Several others observe this as well for various versions of gstreamer and gstreamer-plugins since the 1.2.2 release of amarok.

Sounds like your GStreamer is too old. Upgrade both gst and gst-plugins to the latest versions.

Thanks for the advice.
Upgrade to gstreamer 0.8.9 did the trick, time display and navigation slider work now. Also, the flooding of stderr is gone now. :)
However, I still use the gst-plugins 0.8.6 since I cannot compile 0.8.8. It seems to need glib/gi18n-lib.h which was introduced in glib.2.3, but my system still runs on 2.2. I cannot change that easily.
