amarok gstreamer problem

Sat Apr 23, 2005 2:47 am
I have compiled amarok cvs from source on a Mandrake 10.1 system running KDE 3.4.0. I have gstreamer core library version 0.8.5 installed, but amarok does not display the engine in the configure engine dialog.

If I install an rpm version of amarok, gstreamer is detected, but if i build from source it is not. I remember a message about having to install gstreamer from source, but i get a popt dependency problem even though I have a higher version installed.

How do i make amarok detect the gstreamer plugin?

P.S.:I have tried gst-register as both root and regular user.

You are sure you have gstreamer development packages installed and that ./configure reports that the gstreamer engine will be built?

yes, i have all the packages installed. But during configure amarok says gstreamer not detected and hence wont be compiled.
Thanks for replying.

You can point configure to the gstreamer-libs directory if it is in a non-standard location.
Be really sure you have the needed header files installed.
