Hi,
I have a problem getting amarok to start, meaning amarok stopps during the start-process and I have to kill it. I have a gentoo system on a dell inspiron 8600 emerging amarok 1.2.3 with the following USE-Flags: +arts +debug +flac +gstreamer +kde -kdeenablefinal +mad +mysql -noamazon +oggvorbis +opengl +visualization +xine +xinerama +xmms When I start a backtrace I get the following output: #0 0xb652a973 in __linuxthreads_create_event () from /lib/libpthread.so.0 #1 0xb65258d1 in pthread_handle_create () from /lib/libpthread.so.0 #2 0xb6524d56 in __pthread_manager () from /lib/libpthread.so.0 #3 0xb6524f83 in __pthread_manager_event () from /lib/libpthread.so.0 #4 0xb6230fea in clone () from /lib/libc.so.6 When I start amarok from the konsole the last lines I can see are these: amarok: PluginManager Service Info: amarok: --------------------------- amarok: name : aKode-Treiber amarok: library : libamarok_aKode-engine amarok: desktopEntryPath : amarok_aKode-engine.desktop amarok: X-KDE-amaroK-plugintype : engine amarok: X-KDE-amaroK-name : akode-engine amarok: X-KDE-amaroK-authors : (Max Howell) amarok: X-KDE-amaroK-rank : 45 amarok: X-KDE-amaroK-version : 1 amarok: X-KDE-amaroK-framework-version: 5 amarok: I cannot (re-)install akode on its own, since it seems to be included in the package: kde-base/kdemultimedia-3.4 What can I do to get amarok to work properly? Thanks, Bjoern |

Try using a different engine. For instance, `amarok --engine xine`
