Hi.
I\'ve encoded a entire CD in max Ogg\'s quality. I play it on xmms and I get no problems, the sound were perfect but I get a lagged sound in Amarok. Anyone is facing the same? |

That is a ridiculous thing to do, use FLAC instead.
That being said, try a different sound engine.

I don\'t think that.
The max quality of OGG have the half size of flac. I\'m pretending to create a home media box with all my CD and DVD collection (and cable TV records). I don\'t want to loose quality but I don\'t have all this room for my entire collection. So, it\'s a limitation of arts? This isn\'t a \"bug\" ? |

I haven\'t looked into this for a long time, but as I recall, Ogg Vorbis really isn\'t tuned for high quality at high bit-rates. Yeah, q10 is better than q9 or q1, but at 500kbps, I think other codecs are better. Here\'s the place to follow up on that:

If you don\'t want to loose quality you are quite forced to use flac, because it\'s lossless... My flacs have an approx. bitrate of 700, which isn\'t too far away from 500kb/s. |

Basically at 500kb/s for OGG you have the disadvantages of a lossy format (can\'t freely convert between formats) without the advantage (smaller size, while still sounding just as good on all but the pricest of sound systems).
