Hi all,
First of all - hats off to the devs, amaroK ROCKS B) Now to the problem - I can\'t get Last.fm to stream at all. The stream works on my wife\'s laptop (Win XP, Windows Media Player 9), and it also works at work (Mandrake, XMMS). I\'m running Gentoo, amaroK 1.2. I usually get \"buffering... 0%\" in the status bar of amaroK, which simply hangs - although the Last.fm profile is recording tracks. Once, the stream connected, but then all I got was the \"tuning\" sound. Any help gratefully accepted BalSeraph |

OK, first thing, I\'ve upgraded to CVS version (love the new stuff in there btw, great work devs )
I tried it with all three engines (Gstreamer, aKode, xine) and got similar results. GStreamer hangs on \"buffering 0%\" aKode seems to ignore the stream (nothing in statusbar) Xine gives \"connectiong to HTTP source\", then gives up, like aKode None of these hang amaroK - I can go back to playing my collection no problem. Thx for your help guys BalSeraph |

Does it work with any other streams? I had a lot of problems with connecting to my streams too, but it was fixed in CVS.

I\'ve tried a few streams from the \'Cool Streams\' list which work fine - I haven\'t tried any streams from directly off the web
Hmm, maybe I\'ll try that.... back in a bit BalSeraph |

OK, just grabbed Virgin\'s playlist from there website - absolutely no problem loading it.
Another bizarre thing - I\'m actually getting network activity of about the right level for a stream of music. And the activity stops if I tell the stream to stop. Perhaps amaroK is simply doing something funny with the data? |

Are you behind an NAT? I doubt this is the case but I imagine it is possible for a router to screw up the reporting ip address which will confuse the server. I am taking a total stab in the dark here. I don\'t know jack about how stream servers work. See if you can find out what port it uses (My guess is 80) and forward that port to your desktop PC or set it as DMZ and report your findings.

Hmm, weirder and weirder
I set up DMZ un my router (not hopefully, since it already works on the laptop), and got the same behaviour. Then, on a whim, I changed engine again. aKode same as before, but suddenly, Xine-engine was streaming (hooray!). But since my computer is no open to anything and everything, I went back, turned off the DMZ and tried again. Amazingly, it still worked - Xine-engine is playing Last.fm no problem. So I guess this thread now becomes a bug report on GStreamer, since Xine plays and GStreamer does not. Thanks for all your help, and respect to the devs (again) for such great work. BalSeraph |
