Some URLs are not suitable

Sun May 08, 2005 2:15 am
New to Amarok. Nice player, Audioscrobbler built in. Fantastic! I add my music directory and get the error, \"some urls are not suitable...\" Fine. Ok. WHICH urls are not suitable and WHY? How can I find out?

Cheers,

I got this error on a couple tracks. In my case it turned out to be the length of the full path to the file (I\'m almost certain).

The tracks in question were live medleys, and the file name had the list of all the songs in the medley (MB-tagged, using the track name from MB to name the file).

Using MySQL for the db, noted that the db stores the full path+file name in a varchar(255) column, meaning the full path plus file name can\'t be more than 255 characters.

Thus the file couldn\'t be put in the db.

Shortening the file name solved the problem.

Figuring out exactly which tracks were affected was a nightmare though. There\'s no easy way to figure out which tracks were skipped due to this issue.

There may be another reason for your getting this error, but that was my experience.

Thanks for the reply.

I\'m not using mysql, just loading the songs in from an NFS share. I found the culprits, I had some cover scans in a directory that I neglected to remove.
