"Watch folders" - why once a minute?

Using 1.2.4

Not sure if this is new to 1.2.4 or if if it just wasn\'t noticed earlier.

The \"watch folders for changes\" option for the music collection apparently checks every single minute.

I like this option, but when dealing with several heavy-load programs at once, it became very noticeable that something was causing CPU hell for 2-3 seconds every minute.

Took a while to track down it was this option, not Gstreamer (which is the first thing I check since it\'s been a CPU hog before).

Now, I\'m in a situation where I have a *huge load* of music in my collection, but it really doesn\'t change that often. Maybe 2-3 times a week something gets added at the most.

This means it\'s grabbing the CPU to scramble through all my directories and find new stuff every minute for no real reason.

I guess this falls under Feature Request(s):

1- Option to set *how often* to watch folders for changes.
2- Tools > Check folders for changes ... a way to do it manually.

Second feature is asked for because if \"watch folder for changes\" is turned off, the only way (I can see) to get new stuff into the collection is to rescan the collection. And with a large collection, that\'s a long process just to add 1-2 new albums.

ADD to this:

If you have the \"Collection\" tab open and are, say, skimming through the collection looking for something to play... when the \"Watch folders for changes\" scan actually occurs, after the scan, the \"Collection\" tag jumps around and you lose the place you were looking at. Very bad since it happens every minute.

i.e. If I have the Collection tab, open and have several artists opened to show the list of albums for them, after the \"watch folders\" scan, all of the artists close up.

Occurs whether there\'s new stuff added to the collection or not.

Suggested fix: Don\'t update the \"Collection\" tab after a \"watch for changes\" scan if nothing new was added. (I\'m guessing that\'s the problem.)

Options suck. Perhaps it does check too often, this can be fixed.
