I\'ve seen messages about amarok reading the cover art from the id3 tag but is there any way to _put_ cover art into the id3 tag? I have been using the cover manager but it does not seem to be able to embed the artwork into the mp3 file.

I\'m pretty sure that taglib doesnt have this sort of support, sorry!

Anyway, why would you want to embed cover images?

If a small cover is 20kb, and you have 5000 tracks, that is 97Mb of cover images you have added.

Now imagine if you use large covers which are 200kb each. You\'ll be adding 1Gb of data to your collection.

If all of your tracks are from albums which each have approximately 15 tracks, thats just over 330 albums.

you would only need 1 image for each album, which would amount to 6Mb (at small size)

Big difference!

But, i\'m not trying to discourage you from embedding images! B)

that makes no sense..

either the covers are stored in the file or on the harddrive.. what difference does it make? its handier inside the file, always there, works on colour screen media devices, no need to be constantly downloaded.

if you want covers thats the price for it.. but space is cheap.
