Heyas,
I just installed amarok without error (or so it seems) but when i type amarok at the terminal i get this message \"amaroK could not be started! This may be because the amarokapp binary is not in your PATH. Try locating and running amarokapp from a terminal. So i type amarokapp in to see if that will do anything (obviously i am a novice) but it just says command not found. I would \'cd\' to the amarok directory but i can only find /usr/share/apps/amarok and there are no executables to run. Just 5 folders - data / icons / images / scripts and themes. Any suggestions? Cheers. |

possibly you have a funny distribution which seperated the two binaries.
there is a binary called \'amarok\' and another called \'amarokapp\' \'amarok\' is just a loader, amarokapp does all the work, Find it, and your problems will be solved if you move it to the place where amarok lives. |

Perhaps but i downloaded the files off the sorceforge.org site and installed it as per the wiki.
I have done a search for amorakapp but it cannot be found. How can i uninstall amarok so that i can redownload the file and re-install it? |

If you still have the amaroK source directory that you installed amaroK from, you could do a \'make uninstall\' there. Otherwise it isn\'t possible. It\'s why it\'s nice to install distribution binary packages.
