I use amarok 1.4 on a up-to-date Gentoo System.
My /home folder is mounted from my local server using nfs.
When I try to create a Collection it start working, but it ends up without a result. Because I found 1 or 2 posts, describing the same problem I tried to move my ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok to a local folder an link it back to ~/.kde/...../amarok .

Does amarok\'s Db-Creation need root-rights? Because that could be the reason for such an error (local root isn\'t allowed to write on nfs-mounts).
As a workaround you should maybe add an option to move the amarok folder (in my case to the local partition), because linkin from hd->nfs mount is a dirty hack
