I recently upgraded to FC3 -> FC4. Now, amaroK is unable to scan/update my collection or to add any tracks to the playlist.
On the status bar, Building collection gets stuck at 100%. Then, when I try to add a track to the playlist, building will reduce to 0% and adding is at 100%. The Abort all background-operations button doesn\'t have any effect. When I run amaroK from the console, the following lines will print: [code:1]$ amarok amaroK: [Loader] Starting amarokapp.. amaroK: [Loader] Don\'t run gdb, valgrind, etc. against this binary! Use amarokapp. QObject::connect: Cannot connect Engine::Base::«»statusText( const QString& ) to (null)::«»shortMessage( const QString& ) QObject::connect: Cannot connect Engine::Base::infoMessage( const QString& ) to (null)::longMessage( const QString& ) QLayout: Adding KToolBar/mainToolBar (child of QVBox/unnamed) to layout for PlaylistWindow/PlaylistWindow QColor::«»setRgb: RGB parameter(s) out of range QColor::«»setRgb: RGB parameter(s) out of range QColor::«»setRgb: RGB parameter(s) out of range Very strange! got a DCOPReplyWait opcode, but we were not waiting for a reply! Very strange! got a DCOPReplyDelayed opcode, but we were not waiting for a reply! [/code:1] Eventually, amaroK will hang completely (though only if I attempt to add a track to the PL) and I have to kill the process. |

Oh yes, and the version is amaroK 1.2.4 using KDE 3.4.1-0.fc4.1

Problem solved!
This was apparently just an engine problem. I tried XMMS, and it too behaved strangely (played only one track and then segfaulted). I changed the XMMS output plugin, and it worked so I tried this on amaroK as well. Earlier, in FC3, arts was the only way to get a mixed sound output, so I used it. Now, apparently, arts works really poorly; instead, gstreamer is a better option. |
