i installed amarok, from mandriva\'s urpmi.

i gave it a directory containing about 10 mp3s, and it indexed it fine.
i decided i like it much better than madman, so i told amarok the location of my 800+GB of music.

It never managed to index it.

I left amarok running for 4 days, but it had not completed when i needed to shutdown the PC to install a new dvd drive. I had to kill amarok, because the window did not respond to clicks.

Now, when i start amarok, it draws the window, and outputs the following to the konsole:

But then it just hangs.. no response - no redrawing the window ..

how do i revive amarok?

i\'m using mandrake 2005. amarok-1.2.2-4mdk and kdebase-3.3.2-100mdk

One advice:

With a Collection that big, you definitely want to use a MySQL database instead of the default SQLite. Currently, SQLite has some performance issues with very big Collections.

Run amarok --wizard and use mysql like markey said. This might require finding a different amaroK package or compiling it yourself.

Thanks heaps for your replies - i\'ve installed the rpm from this site, instead of the mandrake supplied one.
i\'ve run the wizard again, and chosen mysql instead lf sql lite.

after pressing \"Finish\" on the wizard, the \"Configure screen\" appears, but none of the widgets on this form appears. it seems to be hanging.

Cancel that... i\'ll RTFM.
