Hi,

Just recently Amarok has started showing some instability playing streams, with occasional crashes when attempting to begin playback.

Just today though after an apt-get upgrade it now refuses to load at all. The playist only has one net station added to it, but here\'s the wierd thing:

I tried finding and removing all of it\'s configuration files, even did a dpkg --purge, but after re-installing it the playist is still populated with the streaming station and Amarok just crashes instantly.

It can\'t do a backtrace, and the only thing on stdout is as follows:

[code:1]$ amarok
amaroK: [Loader] Starting amarokapp..
amaroK: [Loader] Don\'t run gdb, valgrind, etc. against this binary! Use amarokapp.
QObject::connect: Cannot connect Engine::Base::«»statusText( const QString& ) to (null)::«»shortMessage( const QString& )
QObject::connect: Cannot connect Engine::Base::infoMessage( const QString& ) to (null)::longMessage( const QString& )

KCrash: Application \'amarok\' crashing...
[/code:1]

Im using Debian unstable with Amaraok version 1.2.4-1
Using the amarok-arts engine
ALSA for sound

Today\'s apt-get upgrade brought libasound2 along with it, don\'t know if that\'s related though.

Just wondering if Amarok stores configuration settings somewhere within KDE kinda like Gnome\'s \"registery\"?
Is there some way I can purge the playlist externally?

cheers

Ok then, is there any way to run the first run wizard from the command line?
Anything? Anyone?

amarok --wizard

Don\'t use the aRts engine. So install either the gstreamer or xine engines, and do amarok --engine xine or amarok --engine gstreamer

Unstable OS?
Why not go whole hog and get amarok 1.3. beta 2

and you\'ll need
gstreamer-amarok engine package from aptget..

Actually beta2 is, on the whole, more stable.
