I get this error so much, it\'s really getting annoying. Mainly when I start amarok up from a reboot.

Anyone help? I\'ve asked before, and had no luck.

sounds like a problem with your KDE\'s session management ...
try deleting the file $HOME/.kde/share/apps/amarok/current.xml

if this doesn\'t help ->
quit amaroK before shutting down and upgrade your KDE

btw, what amaroK/KDE version and distro are you using? ... such informations are always a great help (this is why I ask for them all the time, but never get them :/)

Annoyed with bbcode since 1999.

Sorry, I should have known to supply that info!

I\'ve had this problem before, with other distros.

Right now I\'m using the latest KDE 3.4.2 and an SVN version of amarok. I was using the newest beta, but upgraded in attempt to fix this problem. It did not fix it.

Thanks for your reply.

I\'ve never had it happen here. But from what I hear, it could be related to \"weird\" characters in the playlist. Like if you use a lot of non-ascii characters.

So far it seems this problem is Qt-internal, because the XML is written as well as read by the Qt library. Can\'t tell you more yet, we\'ll have to experiment. Perhaps you could send a corrupt playlist to our mailing list? amarok-devel@lists.sf.net

I did this, this is the response I got.

I think your problem might be that you have a 4Mb playlist file, which is over
88,700 lines long. Thats a big file. I\'m surprised amaroK doesnt just hang
when loading.

Make your playlist smaller, amaroK doesn\'t really cope so well with huge
playlists.

Seb

I suppose that could be the problem. However, I thought amarok was made to handle large collections of music and make it easily searchable =\\.

Collections, not playlists. The playlist is not the collection.

Most people that make this gigantic playlist it turns out just want to play their whole collection in random mode. If this is what you want, you probably want to check out dynamic mode, so you can play from the collection randomly without having a huge playlist.
