In search of a method to rename selected entries in the playlist according to its ID3tags, I was looking for a dcop call that would return a list of the selected items. Is such a thing available?
I guess the alternative is to parse the current playlist xml file, but there is no way to get only selected items? To use existing ID3 command line scripts in amarok scripts, this surely would make things easier. Even though I would like to have a go at such a script myself, it would be handy to include this functionality in amarok anyway, but I\'m sure other people have already opted for a better mass tag solution than is currently available (v1.3-beta3). And I should mention I like Amarok a lot. If I can get ID3 tagging working as I want it, it would simply be the best player around on any platform. |

Yes, this is possible in amaroK >= 1.3beta2. It\'s not a DCOP, but a script notification. Here is a link http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/index.php/Sc ... ifications
You may want to read the whole script writing howto for more general information. Also here are links to a few scripts using the notification for example. http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=27512 http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=26850 http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=27109 Hope this helps. |

It would be very useful to be able to get the playlist using dcop. I just started playing with it, and I\'m hoping to be able to use it to interface with amarok from a 10 foot interface.
I\'m researching the possibility of creating a MediaCenter-like application using kde programs and dcop seems to be a good way to do it. It would be good if I can get the current playlist and some properties on the media in the playlist, similar to the properties we can get now on the current media. |

I wouldn\'t touch that with a 10 foot poll. *ba bum bam*
There is actually an open bug report requesting this. It does make sense.

I\'m not sure what all this call is supposed to return, can someone please elaborate on it.
