Hi,
What I am looking for is a (compilation) installation of amaroK into a total amarok free system.
As in my previous Emails, I have properly in operation (seems to be) only the amarok Version 1.2.4. All compiled engines are installed: aRts, Xine and aKode. But disappointed is if you open your mp3 list and look under “HELP -> About amarok” menu, you get the Version 1.2.3 instead 1.2.4 (or 1.3). The first amaroK version I have compiled and installed was the 1.2.3 one.

Otherwise after the (compilation) installation of the Version 1.3, amarok was able to open only the aKode engine, even though aRts and xine engines where properly recognized as a sound one (no warning or problems shown during ./configure….or make commands). Curiously and disappointed the Version of amaroK also in this case, remain the Version 1.2.3 (?).

I believe that some files during the (compilation) installation of amarok 1.2.4 (or 1.3) are not actualized as it should. Is that possible?

I compile and install amarok with following commands:
~ ./configure --prefix=`kde-config --prefix` --without-gstreamer
# make
# make install

Please can you tell me how or where I can delete all the amarok files from the system?.

Has some one a similar behavior?, or an idea where I can solve the above issues? Appreciating any feedback, best regards,
Juan Ehrenhaus

System:
SuSE9.1 Prof.
KDE3.4.2 updated
Xine 1.1 (from Packman) (works OK after installation of amarok 1.2.4)

Before installing a new version, get rid of the old one. If you compile from sources, keep the makefile (to be able to do \"make uninstall\" later).

Ups, ....
as you may see I have lost the original makefiles (1.2.3).
I mean a \"make uninstall\" is now not more possible.
How can I rid the old one, anyway?

I will appreciate any feedback this related.

get a 1.2.3 tarball, do a ./configure with the same arguments you did it the previous time. Now you have the makefile.
