hello
i just compiled amarok 1.3 with mysql support on suse 9.3 prof, started mysql with the runlevel editor, ... and did all the necessary things described in the wiki mysql howto now there is no entry \"mysql\" in the drop-down menu in the collection tab of amarok preferences, but only the one for sqlite. what do i have to do now?  |

ensure that you really compiled with mysql (config.log)
It\'s working on my machine (default mysql packages from suse)
Annoyed with bbcode since 1999.

I have exactly the same problem, and i defintely compiled with mysql support?

yes, amarok is compiled with mysql, config.log says it, and ./configure also says it in a message after compiling. i also ran amarok without mysql, in this case there is no drop-down menu in the collection tab at all.
mysql is running, but i don\'t know if this is necessary to be able to choose the mysql option in amarok. |

it isn\'t necessary -- I think your problem is a missing package
letz see if ti works: add [code:1][MySql] MySqlDbName=amarok MySqlPassword= MySqlUser=root[/code:1] to your $HOME/.kde/share/config/amarokrc note: amaroK has to be turned-off when you do this and the scheme \'amarok\' has to be in the mysql database when starting amaroK it should rescan the collection .. and use mysql ... if not, then it isn\'t compiled with mysql btw, have you uninstalled the rpm?

Have you tested Guru\'s RPMs? I have them on SuSE 9.3 with a MySQL database, no problem. Official SUSE RPMs (and KDE supplementary RPMs) are lacking MySQL support, at least they were last time I checked. Make sure you don\'t have the official SUSE RPMs installed, at least. And test Guru\'s RPMs... amaroK for SUSE 9.3 |

i uninstalled the rpm. i created a database \'amarok\' with my username and password. after installing several devel packages and more i could compile and install. at the and of the compiling process mysql was listed as added feature (together with arts and konquisidebar).
the changes in amarokrc have no effect. which lines shall i read or type to prove something? |

And test Guru\'s RPMs... ok, i will install it together with gstreamer. i tried to build gstreamer from source (0.8.10), but gst-register as root failed and the plugins did\'t compile. i didn\'t know the guru rpms come with mysql. i will test it now. |

ok, amarok is running with mysql. i installed from gurus site. :cheer:
what i get now on localhost/~username is: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mysql_connect() in /home/olipo/public_html/inc/globals.inc.php on line 87 is this easy to solve or should i start a new thread? |

That\'s... uh... that\'s not an amaroK issue. Is it? Sounds like a PHP issue.
(I loathe PHP, so I couldn\'t answer anyway. ) |

You don\'t seem to have mysql support for PHP... If you compiled it yourself, recompile with the --with-mysql option for ./configure (it may need a value set to it, check --help first). If you didn\'t, try checking for a package containing the words php and mysql.
