Ok, I\'ve looked through the Help section for a month back and seen no mention of this, so I think I\'ll do my best to write it up here.
This afternoon amaroK has a strange problem with its graphical display. I am using the default theme (KDE system colors) with split window (XMMS style); I use no visualizations. While playing, I noticed that the OSD did not go away a few seconds after the song change. Restoring the windows, I saw that the analyzer scope was frozen, though the title display stayed current with whatever was playing. In the playlist window, the current song indicator was correct, but did not pulse as usual; in the status bar, \"Updating collection...\" was stuck there. \"Quit\" caused the analyzer window to close, but the playlist window stayed open, frozen. After my attempt to quit, ps shows four amarok processes, lsof shows a ton of open files but no internet connections. If I can figure out how to make this happen, I\'ll file a real bug report, but I thought this might be worth mentioning. (Hm, still a Visitor... when will that activation e-mail arrive?) |

some things which would be cool:
distirbution + version kde version qt version amarok version gcc version ...maybe it\'s already fixed in a newer version?
Annoyed with bbcode since 1999.

Ah! Yeah, that would probably help.
distirbution + version = Gentoo + (kernel = 2.6.10-gentoo-r6 #2 SMP ... ppc 7400, altivec supported PowerMac3,3 GNU/Linux) kde version = 3.4.2 qt version = 3.3.3 amarok version = 1.3 gcc version = 3.4.4 (Gentoo Hardened 3.4.4, ssp-3.4.4-1.0, pie-8.7. In case it\'s important, note that while amaroK (and KDE, Qt, etc.) was compiled with all \"hardened\" options, GStreamer (and all plugins) was built with a \"vanilla\" profile. |

Um, what the heck does being hardened mean in relation to amaroK?

Like I said, I don\'t know that it matters at all; I hope it doesn\'t. However, it definitely made a difference with GStreamer, as there are known issues with that. Since I left out the important info before, I wanted to make sure I covered all the bases.

Ok, I managed to lock up the entire app, not just the graphical bits, by opening the Cover Manager while music was playing and the collection was being updated. This happened accidentally (of course!) and I haven\'t been able to do it again yet, but here\'s what happened.
I started the app and set it playing, then went to the Cover Manager. I noticed some things I knew I had ripped didn\'t show up there, so I closed it and checked the Collection. Seeing that they were now listed (having been added in the last few seconds), I went back to the CM. It never opened and the app was completely frozen (not just the eye candy). I\'ll keep trying to get a formula for causing this. |
