Configure Amarok 1.3 on Mac OS X

Tue Aug 30, 2005 8:40 pm
Hi there

I am trying to compile Amarok 1.3 on Mac OS X Tiger , but it complains about my gcc compiler being blacklisted.

config snip:
[code:1]
checking whether we are using the GNU C compiler... yes
checking whether gcc accepts -g... yes
checking for gcc option to accept ANSI C... none needed
checking dependency style of gcc... gcc3
checking how to run the C preprocessor... gcc -E
checking for g++... g++
checking whether we are using the GNU C++ compiler... yes
checking whether g++ accepts -g... yes
checking dependency style of g++... gcc3
checking whether gcc is blacklisted... yes
configure: error:

This particular compiler version is blacklisted because it
is known to miscompile KDE. Please use a newer version, or
if that is not yet available, choose an older version.

Please do not report a bug or bother us reporting this
configure error. We know about it, and we introduced
it by intention to avoid untraceable bugs or crashes in KDE.
[/code:1]
How to change my compiler to another version and will it run very stable at all?

EDIT:
Nevermind... solved it my self. sudo gcc_select 3.3 and we are rolling

Note that if you use gcc 3.3, amaroK can\'t be compiled againist software compiled with gcc 3.4 or 4.0.

Hehe, refer to my previous message.

amaroK is part of Fink, just use it.

Yes I know it is, but it needs a bunch of unwanted packages. Maybe I am just complaining to much, but I do not have the need for those packages. At a minimum Amarok needs, what, kdelibs, kdebase and xine for getting it to play. I do not want to clutter my system with the entire gnome system, just for using amarok. Well... that just me :)
