tags and long filenames

Fri Sep 09, 2005 4:17 am
Hi All.
I`ve got trouble with amarok. Here is my situation:
I want to fill some tags with amarok(through right-click menu on track), but amarok cut long titles, eg:

-- actual track info:
title: The Glass Prison
artist: Dream Theater
album: Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence

-- but amarok saves
title: The Glass Prison
artist: Dream Theater
album: Six Degrees of Inner Turbulenc

\"Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence\" != \"Six Degrees of Inner Turbulenc\", and it`s inpossible to set such title with amarok :(

I`ve got lots of files with such long titles. What I need todo ?

The problem is: ID3v1 tags are limited in length. And amaroK tries to write ID3v1 in this case and it writes its own database (which can differ from the ID3 tag). But of course the ID3v1 tag is truncated to the maximum length.

For long entries you have to use ID3v2 tags. Amarok can also handle these, I have no clue why this not happens.

I prefer using a external tagging application. My favourite is \"tagtool\" (this automatic writes ID3v2 tags while autotagging if needed BTW). But this is totally my opinion. Maybe amaroks behavior is kind of a bug you want to report.

\"Zyklus Farbenfinsternis - Kapitel 3: Schatten im Verstand\" get\'s saved as \"Zyklus Farbenfinsternis - Kapi\" :(

allthough grip is configured to write id3v1 AND id3v2 tags
