Hi all,

I just upgraded my KDE to 3.4.2, and my amaroK from 1.2.4 to 1.3.1, and now any MP3 files I have make amaroK crash. using gstreamer engine 0.8.11, amaroK appears to just quit when I try to do anything with an MP3 file (play it, or look at the meta information); using xine engine, it freezes up. ogg files work fine. MP3s worked fine before I did the upgrading.

Stats:
SuSE 9.3 x86_64
KDE 3.4.2
amaroK 1.3.1
gstreamer 0.8.11
xine 1.0.10 (?)

Any suggestions about what other libraries or anything else I should upgrade or change would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi

Try running amarok from a shell, to see what error messages are displayed..

HI, thanks for the response.

Here is what I got:

kjb@linux:~> amarokapp
QLayout: Adding KToolBar/mainToolBar (child of QVBox/unnamed) to layout for PlaylistWindow/PlaylistWindow
STARTUP
Caps negotiation succeeded with 44100 Hz @ 2 channels
Segmentation fault
kjb@linux:~>

Not much help, unfortunately.

amaroK SVN has a fix for the gstreamer engine. The alsasink works again. So you could update amaroK, or you could switch to osssink temporarily.

Or switch to xine-lib.

Just run:
amarok --engine xine
