Ahh!! This is driving me crazy the way the sound in KDE works. I\'m not able to get KDE to give up the sound for other applications to use!! How do I get it so applications can use the sound and not just KDE? I have the one thing checked to let it pause it.. So when I try and play something in amaroK, it says the device is being used by something else. I\'m also upset with the extreme lack of information on how to get kde to give up the sound..
I need help here! inch: Thanks... |

You have a number of options:
a) use arts engine. this means you will be using the same server as kde, so shouldn\'t be a problem. otoh, arts may provide you with many other problems since its not currently maintained b) disable arts. go to kcontrol and disable the sound server c) setup dmix. alsa 1.0.9 has this setup by default. d) killall -9 artsd before running amarok |
