hi all,
I\'ve kde 3.4 with Debian unstable. I cannot manage to make amarok start. I\'ve tried both *.deb package installation and my own compiling of 1.3, 1.3.1 and 1.3.2. EVERYTIME amarok seems to start, I see the playlist and the player coming up but after 5 seconds it\'s all gone and thunderbird pops up. here is the backtrace.... Using host libthread_db library \"/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1\". `system-supplied DSO at 0xffffe000\' has disappeared; keeping its symbols. try `rm ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/current.xml`
as well as `amarok --engine gst` or `amarok --engine xine`

Hi
I see a few questions about email apps popping up. It\'s actually Amarok trying to send in a bug report. I don\'t particularly like it as it invokes an external program and amarok does not know what that external program does when it starts up. It only really worked with Kmail, Thunderbird just launches. Really Amarok should just do an HTTP POST via a web service to send a bug report, would be a bit cleaner. On to the crash.. what engine are you trying to use? are you starting amarok from a shell or via an icon? starting from a shell can product some useful info sometimes. HTH Cheers James |
