Hi, I just got amaroK and it\'s a great audio player - but only when it works. I have a couple of problems I hope someone can help me resolve. I can play many MP3 files but there seems to be a handful or problematic ones. The first problem is that amaroK freezes when trying to play certain MP3s. This is confirmed with MP3s with their filenames and paths fully in English. I can play these problematic MP3s with other players such as VLC just fine, but it freezes amaroK and I don\'t know what is causing that.
The second problem is that I have many MP3s with Japanese ID3 tags. Many of them show up correctly, but some of them show up as garbled squares and gibberish. I saw in the FAQ a Perl script to circumvent an UTF-8 related problem but I 1. Do not know if it applies to my problem 2. Do not know how to run the Perl script, or what it exactly does to my MP3s  If someone can help me solve these 2 problems, I will be very grateful. |

In Settings->Configure amaroK->last.fm, uncheck Retrieve Similar Artists.

eean: why would that cause amarok to freeze?

Due to that one Unix/Sqlite issue that was preventing us from upgrading sqlite. Seems like the sqlite guys were totally right. Its the bug that must be fixed before 1.4.

ah, in that case: i\'m working on it, after talking to markey yesterday. it\'s not that easy without changing the behaviour for all other db backends as well. or i hate the source. whatever. prolly it\'s worth it. for 1.4 we should really come up with a rewritten db engine system.
