Hello all,
I ave recently installed Mandriva 2006 with amaroK 1.3.1. I was hoping to go fully linux (ditch that nasty windoze partition) by using Amarok to sync my ipod (podcasts and all). The issue is that amaroK crashes everytime that I have my ipod attached. Is there something that I can do to fix this? I have tried upgrading amaroK, but I cannot get all of the nessary packages to install in Mandriva. Has anyone else had this issue? I need help, I am so tired of windoze! -Lupierus Post edited by: Lupierus, at: 2005/10/24 16:29 |

You\'ll need to get the latest amarok from SVN and/or for the time being use GTKpod (which tends to have more viable options for your ipod right now)
As 1.3.1 broke ipod support (when I was using mandriva back not too long ago, with gcc 4.0 but this was fixed in later versions.) I hope that helps. |

Thanks for your rapid help!! :woohoo:
I have tried GTKpod, but mandriva 2006 is not completely supported - at least not for this newbie. And I could not find any support for podcasting. I would like to have an all-in-one app instead of using ipodder to grap the casts (hence the amaroK useage). Please correct me if I am wrong here. I have tried upgrading from SVN, but I am having issues installing all the packages. Has anyone made an install guide for these situations? |

I too have had problems with installing the Amarok packages on Mandriva 2006. There are some dependancy problems where it can\'t find taglib and libtaglib as it needs ones with gdm at the end of the file names, not mdk as the versions that come with Mandriva are. If you remove those from Mandriva, you have to remove kdemultimedia-common too, so hard to put it all back together again.
I had it working once with 1.3.7 having used some of the 2005LE packages but didn\'t record what I did so now that I have done a new install I can\'t get it working again. I hope the Mandriva 2006 packages get fixed in some way so that they will work on Mandriva 2006 without getting tied up in dependancy hell. |
