I am using amarok 1.3.5 in suse 10.0. I have installed rpms and compiled from source to address the following problem:
-- When I do a \"Fill-in Tags Usind Musicbrainz\" lookup on any mp3 file, I get the following output from a terminal: mkoljack@00111150cf60:~> amarokapp QLayout: Adding KToolBar/mainToolBar (child of QVBox/unnamed) to layout for PlaylistWindow/PlaylistWindow STARTUP QObject::connect: Cannot connect QSignal::signal(const QVariant&) to (null)::(null) QObject::connect: Cannot connect QSignal::signal(const QVariant&) to (null)::(null) QObject::connect: Cannot connect QSignal::signal(const QVariant&) to (null)::(null) amaroK has always worked perfectly in Suse 9.3 and Fedora 3 & 4. Not having this feature usable is a real bummer. Thank you for any help you can offer. Thank you.

get the source rpm for libtunepimp, do a rpmbuild -bb and install the resulting libtunepimp-mad rpm -- then it should work.
there was another thread covering this a couple of days ago. |

Thanks aumuell. Thank you for taking time. I downloaded the Suse Source rpm for libtunepimp (same pkg as what\'s installed except it\'s the src rpm). As root I did:
00111150cf60:~ # rpmbuild -bb /home/mkoljack/Downloads/libtunepimp-0.3.0-8.src.rpm error: File /home/mkoljack/Downloads/libtunepimp-0.3.0-8.src.rpm does not appear to be a specfile. Should I be downloading the pkg from the Musicbrainz site?? If this is the correct pkg, can you help with the correct syntax. I did look at man rpmbuild and don\'t see what I\'m doing wrong?? I\'m still a bit new to this. Thanks again. Post edited by: mkoljack, at: 2005/10/28 18:08

Start with rpm -ihv libtunepimp-0.3.0-8.src.rpm.
Then you should have /usr/src/packages/SPECS/libtunepimp.spec and be able to do rpmbuild -bb /usr/src/packages/SPECS/libtunepimp.spec. If you\'re unlucky you will still have to install the rpms that are necessary for building libtunepimp, e.g. a lot of xxx-devel packages. rpmbuild should complain if s.th. is missing. When the compiling has successfully finished you will have /usr/src/packages/RPMS/i586/libtunepimp-mad-0.3.0-8.i586.rpm, which will solve your problem. So no, you should not download anything from musicbrainz. Just the suse (and perhaps packman for all the mad related packages) stuff should do. If you don\'t know packman: should be the first hit on google. |

It\'s not
rpmbuild -bb /home/mkoljack/Downloads/libtunepimp-0.3.0-8.src.rpm but rpmbuild --rebuild /home/mkoljack/Downloads/libtunepimp-0.3.0-8.src.rpm |

loki & aumuell --
I can\'t thank you enough. I did exactly as you suggested: rpm --rebuild ~.src.rpm. I deleted libtunepimp and installed the new corresponding 4 rpms generated: libtunepimp, ltp-devel, ltp-mad,ltp-debug. I compiled and installed amaroK-1.3.5 from source and perfect. I am so thankful to wonderful people like you who help people like me out. I\'ve only been using Linux now for about a year. Of course, it\'s awesome and I\'ve learned so much. Anyway back to working on my music collection. Thank you again very much for the time you took to help. |
