Jumping to the next song

Sun Oct 30, 2005 2:02 pm
Hi,

i\'ve just started using Amarok 1.2.3 under Debian stable.
With some of my albuns (not all), Amarok plays the the first song of the playlist and then stucks, he doesn\'t jump the next song.
Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Thanks,
Paulo.

Hi,

I\'m using amaroK 1.3.1 on SUSE 10.0 which I just loaded on my machine a little while ago. I also have this problem: I dragged an album of music over from my collection into the playlist, but I can\'t figure out how to get it to play all the songs! It will play one song and then stop. It\'s not just me then? Or am missing something obvious?

Hello everybody
I have the same Problem as RAH. I just want to add, that the \"progress bar\" (the bar which shows how much of the song already passed or is left) doesn\'t do anything. I could imagen, since the this bar doesnt work, the program doesnt get an impulse to switch to the next song.

Thank you very much for help!!!!

PS reinstalling doesnt help

I think I\'m getting the same prob. Files in a playlist simply \'fast forward\' through the file wthout any output.

Have played with xmms and am getting sound out of the box so it not a hardware issue...Just wondered if anyone had resolved this ?

Same problem here, happens occasionally, the only way to fix that problem is to restart amaroK, which is highly annoying :/

After some more testing, it seems that Amarok doesn\'t jump to the next song whenever my playlist is made of mp3 files coming from the Windows partition...

With mp3 files on the Linux side everything works fine.

I am having a similar problem.

I have tried using only mp3 files on my Linux /home partition, and that doesn\'t do anything.

First, I am using SuSe 10.0 x86_64 on a 3.2GHZ Pentium 4 and 2GB RAM. I am curretnly using both the Helix and Xine libs that come packaged with SuSe 10.0.

When I use the Helix engine, I can play a song on the playlist, and then amaroK stops after that song without automatically playing the next song. I tried switching to the Xine engine, amaroK would highlight the selected track, stop on it a second, then skip to the next song repeatedly down the playlist. It would stop on each song without playing any of it, and then move to the next song.

Lastly, the progress bar doesn\'t do anything. It stays at zero. I can manually move it, and the song will progress to that point where I stop moving it. After that, it goes back to zero (the bar, not the song).

Anyway, with regard to the engines, what that tells me is that I need to figure out how to configure one or the other engine to do what I need it to do. That is, play a song and then go to the next on automatically.

I am going to try some tweaking this weekend (like using some packman packages ;) ), and I will get back with you all and let you know if I come up with anything.

Well, I uninstalled SuSe\'s xine libs and installed packman\'s xine libs. Although I can now watch the DVDs that I paid for (;) ), amaroK won\'t work at all.

I uninstalled SuSe\'s amaroK (versin 1.3.1), downloaded and built version 1.3.5 from the source, and still nothing. When trying to execute it from the command line, I don\'t even so much as get an error message. Just nothing. amaroK seems to be very touchy. Either that, or there is just something about the packman xine that is completely incompatible with amaroK.

Well, I will keep playing around, and I will let you folks know about any new developments.

Well folks... an embarrassing moment for me

So much for assuming things are more difficult than they actually are... For me, it was simply a matter of RTFM. For my fellow SuSe users, take a look at this in the FAQ:

http://amarok.kde.org/amarokwiki/index. ... Linux_10.0

I installed the 64-bit files linked at the bottom of the page. I am using the Xine engine (with appropriate plugins found at the above page), and now everything works great! amaroK now automatically plays the next song, the scroll bar works... no problems.

Nothing like being reminded of an old lesson
