crash on startup

Sat Nov 05, 2005 12:57 pm
Hi,
Today i started to get the following error when launching amarok:
kio (Scheduler): FATAL: BUG! _ScheduleJob(): No extraJobData for job!
Failed to read a valid object file image from memory.
/tmp/kde-lajcik/amarokCHcbYa.tmp:1: Error in sourced command file:
Previous frame inner to this frame (corrupt stack?)

I reemerged amarok with debug symbols to post a more detailed error log but after recompiling it stoped crashing :) Hope this is enough to shed at least a little light on the cause.

We know what\'s going on. Amazon.com now sometimes returns empty URLs, which makes KIO crash. The code is used for the cover image refresh at startup.

We\'ve fixed it. Going to release 1.3.6 this weekend.

I had somthing similar happening today, same ScheduleJob stuff happening. I recompiled everything related to amarok to no avail.
Finally i changed from mysql to sqllite and it seemed to work. Don\'t know if this really is related but at least that worked for me.

If you run the SQL command,
UPDATE `amazon` SET `refetchdate` = \'1138920096\'
that will fix it. But be sure to install 1.3.6 for the real fix when it comes out shortly.

Yes, that seems to fix it. Thank you.

Couldn\'t that be the same because the player crashes submitting songs to audioscobbler/last.fm? Those crashes seem related with weird answers from the last.fm server ( I have seen it with ethereal, but I don\'t have the dump any more... )

And what I ever wanted to say is:
great work, great people, great software
