Ok, it\'s not so much an actual error as the lack of any results when building the collection, I did sort it out in the end though.

The problem:

When running amaroK as root there arn\'t any problems, the collection gets built fine. Doing the same as a normal user didn\'t work at first, struggled for the past day trying to build the damn collection over and over. But nothing happened, it would scan through all the files it should (all of them were added to collection_scan.log) but nothing was added to the actual .db file.

The sollution was straight forward in the end: simply delete the .db file the amaroK created at first. Everything working as it should now.

Was strange though, can anyone think why the original .db file got corupted?
