When I ./configure amaroK , I get an error saying that:
\"amaroK cannot be built because your TagLib version is too old. Please obtain the version 1.4.0 from: http://ktown.kde.org/~wheeler/taglib/\" So I went to the website and configured/make/install the whole thing (TagLib 1.4) no problem. However, the amaroK configure still gives me this error. Is there a way for amaroK to recognize the installation of TagLib 1.4? Thanks! |

you have two versions of taglib installed, and you probably installed 1.4 to the incorrect prefix

Thanks for the fast reply...
But I\'m fairly new to Linux... how do I go about removing the old version to install the new one? (Or just flat-out replacing the old one with the new one)? I\'m using SuSE, if that means anything... Thanks! |

Look out for libtag.so.1.3.0 or 1.4.0.
I guess, you have a package from your distribution installed (in general in /usr/lib/), you should deinstall this. Your manual installation of taglib is probably in /usr/local/lib/. On the other way, the releases of amaroK still work with libtag 1.3 (this might not be true for SVN versions!), if you look for taglib in the configure file, you will find a variable called so defining the version string. If you switch that back to 1.3.0 it compiles just fine (I am doing this all the time for Debian Sarge *g). Marcel |
