mp3 playback sounds strange

Thu Nov 24, 2005 1:00 am
On a few of my mp3s, when I play them - it sounds as though they\'re being played underwater. That\'s the best way I can describe it anyway. It is always the same mp3s, yet the same mp3s play fine using another player such as Xmms. It\'s not just mp3s either, one of the streams I like to listen to has the same thing.

Anyone got any idea what is causing the strange playback and what I can do about it? Thanks.

well, which engine are you using? One tip I can offer pre-emptively, is that is you are using gstreamer with the alsasink, you might find better results with the osssink. I have this issue on my machine.

Hmm.. I was using gstreamer / oss sink

But I\'ve changed to alsa sink and now the same mp3s are played but they come out as short 1 second bursts of sound and nothing much else. Ouch.
