libpcre.so.0 error

Mon Nov 28, 2005 7:32 am
I upgraded to amarok-1.3.6-1.fc4.i386.rpm along with 2 dependencies (mysql-4.1.14-1.FC4.1.i386.rpm and postgresql-libs-8.0.4-2.FC4.1.i386.rpm.
After a while my FC4 started generating errors and finally - boot time error started.
I could trace problem to corrupted files /lib/libpcre.so.0 and two others.
Detailed error post is http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-l ... 03960.html

I would participate in bug removal and first step is to identyfy the BUG. Please email me if I have to run some diagnostics before initiating repair of my FC4 box.
Thanks.

This sounds like your hard drive is dying. This is not (should not) be amaroK specific. Sorry.

Given conditions are
- boot possible only in rescue mode and
- all file system visible.

Given that this is really off-topic and I am no expert on this, you can check the SMART state of your hard drive (there\'s a tool for Linux to get them, go ask google) or get the drive fitness test from IBM/Hitachi which comes as a boot image and thus is OS independent.

Thanks marcel,
I have recovered FC4 box and I am writing this from the same.
Yes, next step is to check HDD health, and your words are good enough for taking the horse to turf (google)...
Thanks again.
