First I installed Amarok from rpm obtained on the fedora extras page. I have been having issues with the helix engine being slow and choppy. after looking on the web this seems to be a problem with the engine and that I can\'t fix it. so I tried installing the proper components to make the Gstreamer engine work. I can play back just fine with much higher quality and less CPU usage. however everytime I pause and restart playback I get a very loud poping noise. loud enough to damage my speakers. not to mention my general annoyance. I then began to try and install the xine plugin for amarak. I have searched the net, and this forum but can\'t find any details. I downloaded the rpm package
amarok-xine-1.3.6-0.2.fc4.i386.rpm which is the correct rpm for my linux build. I installed the package without problems, however I still don\'t have the option to use the xine engine in the amarok configuration. I compiled gxine and it opends and plays just fine. Is there somethign I missed? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
