Trouble installing MAD

Mon Dec 05, 2005 3:09 pm
I\'m on Suse 10, and from what I understand, I need MAD installed in order to play mp3s in Amarok. The problem is that when I try to rpm MAD, I get:

[code:1]
libc.so.6()(64bit) is needed by mad-0.15.1b-1.pm.0
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.2.5)(64bit) is needed by mad-0.15.1b-1.pm.0
libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.3.4)(64bit) is needed by mad-0.15.1b-1.pm.0
[/code:1]

But glibc and glibc-devel are installed, so I don\'t understand what\'s wrong. Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Do you actually have a 64 bit computer with 64 bit Linux? 64 bit mode is available on AMD Opteron/Athlon64 and rather new Intel Pentium 4/Xeon processors.

If you\'re on 64 bit then \'uname -m\' should output x86_64, otherwise probably i686.

If you don\'t have a 64 bit system, then you have downloaded the packages for the wrong architecture. Be sure not to get the x86_64 ones but the i386/i586/i686 packages.
