long delay in opening mp3 files

Tue Dec 06, 2005 1:57 am
amaroK v1.3.1 (w/ gStreamer)

I notice that amaroK seems to delay about 1 second when opening mp3 files, as compared to other programs which don\'t have any delay at all.

This delay is currently making amaroK unusable for me (no offense to the developers of this great program, but it\'s very annoying).

Perhaps the engine or amaroK is parsing the entire mp3 file instead of streaming from it?

If this can be fixed by switching engines, might anyone know of an alternate engine? Thanks.

FYI --

This is a problem with gStreamer. Use XINE instead.

note that Ubuntu linux doesn\'t download the XINE engine with the amaroK package; you have to search on synaptic for \'amarok\' and download (or apt-get if doing from command line) the amarok-xine package
