i just rescanned my collection, and realized the following:

Interpret/Album list says:
5803 tracks / 167 Interprets

if i mark all of them and drag them into the playlist, it says:
5811 tracks

well, not a serious problem, really - but i am just wondering.. amarok 1.3.6, KDE 3.5

another site effect (dunno if it is related to the problem described above):

lets take the following scenario:

a) i have a collection with 167 interprets.
b) i add some new MP3s, without any ID3 tags yet
c) i rescan the collection, and the new artist gets \"unknown\"
d) this is fine, i get 168 artists
e) i edit the metatags, fill in artist, album,title
f) the artist gets listed fine in the left windows (intertpret/artist)
g) however, the left window still shows 168 artists, even if the artist is known yet. i would expect 167 artists now. (no, not a new artist).

a rescan will fix the problem, though..

could be due to some tracks not inserted into playlist b/c of them being not playable by your current engine?

but then i would have less tracks in my playlist, and not more - right?

strange.. if i go to \"playlists\" and choose \"complete collection\" the trackcount is correct.
but if i drag/drop them all, it adds 8 tracks. also happens with 1.3.7, just installed it today.

well, guessing why it adds 8 tracks.. i have 8 main directorys (MP3DVD001 - 008). could this be related to the problem? just wondering where the number 8 comes from..

naw, this was unfortunately not the problem. i am at DVD 009 now, and the playlist is still adding 8 tracks.

hmpf.. anyone in here haveing about 6000 tracks and able to duplicate my problem? hello??

I can dupicate this...

if I use the smart playlist to add entire collection, 12099 tracks are added. If I select all and drag from the Collection manager, 12520 tracks are added. That fairly closely approximates with the number of individual artist directories I have, but not counting all artist/album directories.

well, i have about 170 artists, and as many directorys as well.. but only 8 tracks more are added in my case - so i dont think this is related, though.. at least i am not alone with this problem
