Newer to linux. I have Mandriva \'06. AmaroK came with this distro.
I cannot get Amarok to play. I click on my file and it goes on the playlist. AmaroK looks like it gets ready to play it then just stops. I tried many more of my Mp3\'s with the same result. Clicking the play button does nothing, it just sits there. I read somewhere that I needed something called MAD. I found it in RPMDrake and installed it. Noticeing that MAD had something to do with gstremer, I have tryed changing the engine from aRtS to gstreamer, but all I get is an error message saying:
I searched in RPMDrake for libamarok but couldnt find anything. Am I going about this the wrong way? Please remember if you want me to go into the konsole to type out every keystroke. If you dont type it, I wont know to type it Thanx -The Mighty OS |

Make sure you have installed the amarok-engine.rpm files, where engine is either arts, xine or gstreamer.
Also, mandriva probably cripples mp3 support, so you wouldn\'t be able to play mp3s. Search google for mp3 & mandriva |

I figured it out! The partition I was reading my MP3 files from was NTFS. Most of these files where under encryption. I transfered my files to a FAT patition and got rid of the encryption and now my files play! And now that I got a chance to check it out fully I want to say that WinAmp has NOTHING on amaroK!! This is my new primary player!!
