iPod Artwork

Wed Dec 28, 2005 2:18 am
I transferred my collection to my new 5G ipod and all was good. I got the correct coverart and everything. Then I wanted to add an audiobook to it, Amarok doesn\'t support that so I used gtkpod. Now all of my coverart is gone. Is there anyway to get Amarok to replace the missing cover art?

Hi Joel,

what kind of audiobook did you try to add to your ipod? I tested with audible audiobooks - this works. To my knowledge this is a unique feature of amaroK. Thus I suppose adding an audiobook in aac/m4b format failed. Is it encrypted? Is there any way to get such an audiobook for testing purposes?

As to your missing artwork: currently there is no way to replace the missing album covers. However, I\'m not sure why you lost it in the first place: gtkpod also uses libgpod, and thus the handling of cover artwork should be compatible in both applications. What version of libgpod and gtkpod are you using?

But there are known problems with artwork added by libgpod and iTunes: if you look at your covers in iTunes (e.g. by double clicking on them), iTunes will notice that your song does not contain artwork within its id3v2 tag and thus removes the cover.

Please come back to us with additional information regarding these issues,
Martin

The audiobook was an mp3 that I converted to aac and renamed to m4b. I suspect that I have to recompile Amarok to use the new library (mpeg4ip) that I had to compile to use the m4b format in gtkpod.

I don\'t know why the cover art disappeared when I used gtkpod. I thought it would work just fine because they both use libgpod. I am using the cvs version of both. I don\'t use iTunes at all, so that\'s not the problem. Some of my music has embedded art, some of it is just album art from Amarok if that matters at all.

I recently added a new album with Amarok and it has artwork, so it does work, I just don\'t want to re transfer all of my music.

Thanks for the help, Amarok is a great program.

by mistake (well I was greedy and wanted more) I uninstalled amarok 1.4. Since I reinstalled it, amarok does not anymore send Artwork to the Ipod. Anybody knows what I did wrong? I resetted my Ipod and deleted all songs... nada.... no more artwork ...

I'm running 1.4.0 on FC5 x86_64 and have no artwork on my 30GB iPOD video.

I've used easytag to embed some of the artwork into the id3 tags, i'ved used the 'embedcover' script within amaroK to try and get the images into the files so that they will display on my iPOD but everything I've tried fails.

Any ideas?
