OK, I\'ve tried everything I can think of short of deleting everything from my iPod and starting from scratch. No matter what I do, files transfered from amarok SVN (I upgraded because regular amarok would say it had transfered a file, but it would never show up on the ipod) don\'t have cover art associated with them. I figured that maybe this was just because of the whole files downloaded from amazon thing and amarok therefore wasn\'t transferring the files to the ipod. Then I tried to embed the cover art into the mp3 and that didn\'t work. With gtkpod, I am able to associate a picture with an album and it shows up in the iPod. I have a 5g ipod by the way. I really like amarok and would prefer to not have to use the very awkward gtkpod inferface, but I also like having album art.

artwork for ipod is copied from the amarok cover collection, it completely ignores what is embedded into the file. this is way handier than how itunes does it.
so you need to let amazon (or do it manually) find the album covers for you in the cover manager. very cool feature |

What does it take for it to transfer over.? The albums are all searched for my entire colletion, but when I send songs to the ipod it does not copy over album covers. Am I missing something? Is this only for certain version of amarok? Has anyone got this working, if yes, what were the step you took?

same problem here... fist it worked then I reinstalled amarok and wuuups.... it does not work anymore and I do not see artwork on my IPOD anymore. I use Kubuntu dapper and amarok 1.4. It seems that it has to do wit libgpod-common I have actually 0.3.2 installed.
No idea why it worked before. I reinstalled amarok like 100 times, but no more artwork covers. |

After SEARCHING hours I found the solution. By mistake I uninstalled some packages (well in fact I wanted to complie amarok to be able to transfer films to it). Since that moment even after reinstallation of amaorok ArtWork Cover were not transferred anymore.
What did I find out... I installed randomlly a couple of packages and checked each time if it works. Here are the packages that I have now installed, and amarok works 100% for me an 10x better now than iTunes. I run dapper with amarok 1.4a (package): ii ipod 0.4.5-0ubuntu2 tool for retrieving informations from iPods ii ipodder 2.1.9-4 a podcast receiver ii ipodslave 0.7.3-0ubuntu1 kio-slave for ipods ii ipodslave-dev 0.7.3-0ubuntu1 devlopment files for ipodslave kio-slave ii libipoddevice0 0.4.5-0ubuntu2 library for retrieving informations from iPo rc gtkpod 0.99.2-1ubuntu2 manage songs and playlists on an Apple iPod rc gtkpod-aac 0.99.2-0ubuntu4 manage songs and playlists on an Apple iPod ii libgpod-common 0.3.2-0ubuntu1 a library to read and write songs and artwor ii libgpod0 0.3.2-0ubuntu1 a library to read and write songs and artwor ii amarok 1.4.0a-0ubuntu1 versatile and easy to use audio player for K ii amarok-engines 1.4.0a-0ubuntu1 output engines for the amaroK audio player ii amarok-xine 1.4.0a-0ubuntu1 xine engine for the amaroK audio player Sorry guys, I am too happy it works, that I mess up my installation again to test what it was... I guess at 70% that one dependencies is missing. Therefore you must have installed the right packages combination. Or it does not work I had libgpod-common installed but it did not work all alone... only installing packages that sounded for me "does not harm and has to do with ipod" lead me to success. write me on my email if you need a complete list of packages I have installed. Btw.... I was able to rip a DVD under Linux and install on ipod I am soo happy. |
